Baby Boutique - 3rd Year Project

This was our first real client that gave us a real brief with specific requirements and we were asked to present a concept.
The clients were looking for something natural and contemporary and they made it clear that they did not want something that was like the 'cookie-cutter', 'plastic-like' baby shop.
Their products are organic and for a very specific market.

The site: Mazambique - Maputo

The clients would decide on one concept they liked and hope to use some of our ideas in their store.

One of my projects in first year

I often look back at some of my projects and I think about all the things I would change. I am actually really proud of the computer work I was able to do through teaching myself photoshop for this assignment. Thankfully I have improved drastically (I hope!).

The brief for this assignment was to create an office space for a company called KW Attornies. (This was just a fictional name and all details of the business are fictional.) We got an existing floor plan and got told to conceptualize, draw up a plan and elevations as well as create a model.
Here is some of the work.

This was the idea of a basic concept board. I wanted to go for a bold red and make it very contemporary with elements of white, black and chrome.

My mood board was used to show how I wanted people to feel in the space. I showed the colour palette through images people could relate with, such as dark chocolate, red pepper etc. Overall I wanted a contemporary, elegant space with bold choices of colour and finishes.

Floor Plan: rendered in photoshop. (my first attempt at photoshop!)

Ceiling Plan: Very basic but it was a start.

Elevations: I am extremly proud of these. Although they are not true working drawings, they show the space really well and as a presentation elevation they work well.

Branding: The brief explained that we had to do the corporate image for the client and create his stationary.

Model: we had to create a model of the main office space. (The bosses office).
I had so much fun creating this model. I used materials such as foam board, bolser wood and kebab stick.

Overall for my first project it wasn't too bad.

About My Blog.

I was recently introduced to the world of blogging and I have been hooked ever since. I catch myself sitting for hours reading other peoples blogs and becoming inspired by their work.
I had toyed with the idea of starting a blog of my own and finally decided to take the plunge and go ahead.
I am thrilled that it is finally off the ground and I now have a space where I can hopefully inspire people about all things design, and in particular interior design.
Idealy I would like this space to act as my gallery where I can showcase some of my previous work, future work and anything inspiring and creative that tickles my design taste buds.

I hope you all will enjoy this blog as much as I have enjoyed starting it.

All Things Design

My Blog has finally arrived and I thought that there was no better way to kick it off than with a few quotes and sayings relating to interior design and design in general.
